his strength of convictions

I know I'm a little late in posting this, but I don't care what you think so shut up. Being a movie buff, the Oscars are a special time of year for me. Some years it is a celebration of the glory that is the silver screen, others are years of sadness and hurt. This year encompassed both of these feelings. I cannot express how happy I am that "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" made a clean sweep. I am overjoyed that someone in Hollywood recognized the films for what they are. But at the same time it kinda brings me down to see that they waited til the last one to give it anything. It's kinda like they're saying, "Hey sorry 'bout the last two years when we screwed you guys outta the Oscars, so here's some statues to make up for it." That's very blowtastic on the part of the academy. Also why the hell wasn't Sean Astin even nominated for best supporting actor. He was the foundation on which Return was built. Without his stellar performance as Samwise that movie would have been pure crap. Once again, academy you are craptastic.

Moving on away from the Rings, I feel as if Bill Murray was robbed of an Oscar that he deserved so much. Yes I will admit Sean Penn is a great actor. Hell I even thought his speech was great, but Bill should've won. I think the academy was trying to make up for their stupidity a few years back when Mr. Penn lost to Denzel for his role in "Training Day". Having seen both "Training Day" and "I am Sam" I can honestly say that that year at the Oscars was pure crap. Penn in "I am Sam" was phenomenal and I think they knew it, they just didn't wanna give it to a Hollywood bad boy. Well they caved in this year and it cost a very talented actor an Oscar. Bill Murray you should've won and everyone knows it.

I'm gonna stop now before you people get all upset at me. I do love the Oscars, really I do. In fact this year had one of the greatest moments ever: Sean Connery opening the show. I mean come on, he's the sexiest man alive. I think it was the Academy's way of saying, "We're sorry you were in that horrible piece of shit 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen'." Course that's just my opinion. Later, I'm outta here.

What's up Dicky? So I've been trying to talk my friends into going and seeing "You Got Served" with me since before it came out. And for whatever reasons, they all say no. They just don't understand good quality movies I guess. From what I can figure from all the previews, is that two rival gangs square off... in DANCE! It just screams brilliance. I mean, have you seen the previews? The guy slides across the floor on his head. HIS HEAD!! Oh well, I guess I'll catch it at the video store.

Some important stuff now. I Voted For Kodos is in need of musicians. They're a great band and even better guys. So if any of you ever wanted to be in a kick ass band, this is your chance. Head over to their site and check out the whole story.

And if you want to catch IV4K live, you may have noticed a primo opportunity in that nifty little flyer to the left. Ska Weekend is coming up. I didn't go last year. Hell, I don't even think I knew anything about it then. But this year, there has been some heavy advertising going on for it. So what does that mean? It means the 21deadmonkeys crew is headed down to Knoxville for a weekend. We're driving down from Michigan, so if anybody wants to bum a ride, just hit us with an email. It looks to be a pretty solid line up. Who knows? Maybe next year, we'll be a sponser.

Hmmm... I'm sure I'm forgetting something... Oh well, if I think of something else, I'll just post a new comic later in the week. But before I go, I should mention that we're still taking submissions for our compilation. As soon as this one is done, I do believe we'll be starting right up on a new one. Why? Because we're not that bright. Later kids.

off the train,
