come carry on 'till the night's all gone

Hey guys and gals. So we ended up not going and seeing Goldfinger. It wasn't that we didn't want to see Goldfinger per se, it was more that nobody felt like making the drive to Pontiac. Plus none of us like Clutch Cargos. The Mysterious Matt Wixson went though and he told me how we missed a really good show and how they hardly played anything off the new record. I don't think The Mysterious Matt Wixson would lie to me. Of course he did tell me not to hold my breath on the Bosstones getting back together (I had to point out to him that they were on hiatus) at Ska is Dead. Then the next day he came over to my house and kicked my dog. On the other hand, he does write catchy songs.

Let's not talk anymore about The Mysterious Matt Wixson though. That'll all be settled in a comic soon enough. Let's talk about deporting people! Okay, so nobody's get deported. Well, actually this one middle eastern guy who went into Staples and tried to get some color copies made of government documents got deported. That's a true story. It happened while Hoss was still working there. But this story concerns me, because people want to know what's going on in my life. (I swear some people do!) Remember how I was working three jobs at one point and it sucked? And that third job was working midnights at one of the crappiest Knights Inns in Michigan? And how I quit that sinkhole and my boss refused me my last paycheck? And then I filed a complaint with the state? Well, if you didn't remember, you just got filled in on it. So anyways, the detective assigned to the complaint called me last week about it. Apparently, management has changed since I was there. See, Knights Inn just licenses out their name and local companies run the businesses. So as of December 17th, the business went under new management and they weren't going to pay me because they weren't responsible for it. Well, that makes sense. So the detective did some searching but wasn't able to locate the company responsible for my paycheck. Then he got a number from a number from a number kind of thing, and talked to my old boss. Now my boss is of Iraqi descent and has a heavy accent, but I never really thought much of that. I always just thought she was a bitch. Well, I guess she's been using a fake name. Hmmm... interesting. And she avoided a lot questions and went around in circles about things. Okay. Then she finally admits that she does owe me a paycheck, but she just hasn't known where to send it. Odd, because she does have my address and phone number, not to mention I talked to her twice about trying to get it. She then refuses to give her address to the detective. Wow, you're taking on the state of Michigan? You go girl! Oh, and during this whole conversation, the detective can hear someone in the background yelling "Just hang up! Just hang up!" So the detective asks if I've gotten a W2 form from them because that might have an address that he can trace on it. No, I haven't. Well, can you go up there and see if they have one for you? Okay.

This guy really wants to nail these people. He even said that he'd be surprised if they sent me my last check. That's cool. Well, I went up there and got my W2 form. Why they weren't going to mail it to me, I have no idea. The address listed though is just the address of the Knights Inn building. I notice on it though, that they have include my last paycheck on it. Hmmm...

Well, I called him up Friday to let him know what was up. After some searching on his end of the phone, it turns out that they did send my last paycheck. Woot! I ask if it's possible to get any money for my training (oh yeah, she denied this in the questioning). He says probably not because the company doesn't exist anymore and that this lady is now in hiding. If they can track her down and find her, I guess it's a possibility. Moreover, I'm just glad I got my money and that hopefully this lady learned a lesson. That's right kids, don't fuck with dead monkeys.

Oh, and MST3k has still not arrived. This makes me sad. Of course, with this money coming, maybe I'll buy a couple of seasons off ebay.

off the train,
