that we were super rad!

What's up Dicky? Mad props to Lakefront Ska Thursday was the Lakefront Ska fest with something like 10 or 11 bands. Besides sweltering heat, this show was a huge success. I think I caught all the bands except for the Uncertain 5 (which I've seen before) and I only caught part of Mass Hysteria (which I regret missing cuz they sounded awesome). Arrogant Sons of Bitches were crazy. I think that's the first time I've ever taken off my pants at a show. The Know How were great as always, but I think they got gypped. They should've been second to last instead of fourth to last. What's up with that? The Ninjas really impressed me. It's been awhile since I've seen them and they've gotten a lot tighter. Kick-Stand totally redeemed themselves from the Happy Badger show I went to. For a couple songs they had a four piece horn section and were tearing it up. Not to mention they finished their set with a cover of "Dear Sergio." Last and most importantly was Streetlight Manifesto. If seeing Scott Klopfenstein play "Drunk Again" live is like really good sex, SM is a fucking orgasm. These guys are amazing. Don't pass up any opportunity you might have to see them. For real. I'm seriously considering the drive to Grand Rapids by myself to see 'em again. Also props to all the kids who were there. It's good to be a part of such an awesome scene.

As for the comic? Well, it sucks. I think the first panel is pretty cool looking and then it all goes downhill from there. Maybe I can get Hoss to explain the Captain Sick Fuck Lore to you guys one of these days.

And don't forget to catch Stereo 7 while they're on tour

Huzzah! for everyone that came out to the show on Thursday. You guys rock. Everyone was dancing and swinging and having a good ole time. I just wish all the bands could have played upstairs though. The sound system downstairs was very lacking to say the least. More often than not I had no idea what anyone was saying or singing. Despite that it was still a totally bitchin' show. I have to say that going into this show, only having seen two of the bands, that I was pleasantly surprised how awesome everyone was. ASOB, Kickstand, The Ninjas, The Know how, and Streetlight Manifesto blew my mind. I do have one more complaint though, and it goes out to ASOB. Just cause we're sitting down doesn't mean we aren't rocking out. Maybe the person sitting down is there to support the scene after working a 5am shift and is dead tired from lack of sleep, or maybe they are holding all the merch their friend bought so it doesn't get trashed somehow, or maybe both. Yeah, that's my take on this totally bitchin' show. Oh wait one more thing, props to the superheroes that showed up. Later.
