So last night, the 21dm crew was coming home from Ohio and we were listening to the people's choice on 89x. The people's choice is a radio show where they play two songs and then people call in and vote for the one that they like better. I haven't heard it in forever since I don't really ever listen to the radio, but we caught it last night. It was Reel Big Fish vs the returning winner, Mudvayne. What's more, the DJ opted for "One Hit Wonderful" over their single "Revolution." As he said, their original songs are better than their covers. Plus he schooled someone on ska. Seriously. It was something to the effect of "When I think about ska, I don't think about Reel Big Fish. I think of the Specials or Desmond Dekker." I think he was really rooting for RBF. They didn't win the people's choice, but it was pretty sweet to hear people supporting them.

This comic stems almost straight from Ducky Boy. He has this weird love/hate relationship with Reel Big Fish that I don't quite understand. I can't really explain it. I mean, he has their cds and goes to their shows. He dances and sings along. Yet for some reason, he claims that he really doesn't like them all that much. And he really does blame them for a bunch of crappy third wave ska bands. Whatever. You'll have to ask him about it.

I picked up "We're Not Happy Until You're Happy" on Tuesday and it's pretty much been playing in my car since. I have to agree with Ducky that I wish they would have left all the covers off of it. Still, it's good stuff. For everyone who was disappointed with "Cheer Up," I think you'll like this one.
