Ska is Dead II
We once again headed out to Alvin's in Detroit. This time it was for the Ska is Dead II tour. The Line up would prove to b a fairly good even before entering the venue. First up was St. Thomas Boys Academy. I actually liked these guys although I think they were supposed to be Suicide Machines rip offs. They were on when we got there and I enjoyed them. Next up was Big D and the Kids Table. This was my second time seeing them and like liked them both times; I am not sure which time I liked better. They played a really short set. The next band and Co-headliner was the Voodoo Glowskulls. They were really good. Much better than the first time I saw them. If you haven't seen them go, just to see the guy in the wrestling mask. It seemed like they played faster this time but I am not sure. The last band was Streetlight Manifesto. They were awesome just as good as or better than I had expected them to be. I just wish they could have played their songs a little faster so I could have moshed instead of skanked. I don't really like skanking. Definitely check out Streetlight if you can. They ARE all they are cracked up to be. The night capped off on a bad note when we were entombed, on the street, by parked Fire trucks. A building on the street burned down and apparently it took 12 of Detroit's finest fire trucks to put a stop to it. Maybe they needed that many, but did they all have to park crooked? After we were freed we went to Denny's as usual; and then sped home towards the comfort of our beds, another concert vanquished with few of our own casualties.
